- 殺菌作用
- 緩衝作用
- 再石灰化作用
自浄作用と殺菌作用は、唾液によって虫歯菌をやっつけます。
緩衝作用は、虫歯菌から発生する酸を中和する役割です。
再石灰化作用は、酸によって溶けてしまったエナメル質を再生させる役割です。
この4つの役割によっても、虫歯にならないようにしています。
しかし、現代の食生活では、やわらかい食べものばかりなうえ、糖をおおくふくんでいます。
唾液の量もへり、糖はふえ、虫歯菌のやりたい放題となっているわけです。
よって、食べたあとのはみがきもたいせつですが、おなじくらいかむ回数もたいせつです。
また原始人のように、タンパク質をおおく食べる生活をすると、虫歯だけでなく健康にもつながります。
